Security Comes First for ICS Computing
01 April 2008
ICS Computing, one of Ireland's largest indigenous IT software and services companies has been awarded the prestigious ISO27001 certification for its hosting services - guaranteeing the company's customers a more robust and holistic approach to information security.
Certified by SGS - the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company - ICS is one of the first companies in Ireland to be awarded the quality standard.
The ISO27001 is accepted world-wide as the security framework standard that employs a process based approach to establishing, implementing and monitoring an Information Security Management System. It aims to reduce the business risks associated with information security and provides assurance to all stakeholders on the applicable security controls in order to counter the various threats to the information. The security standard encompasses people, processes and IT systems.
Pat McCorkell, IT Manager, ICS Computing said, "The ISO27001 standard ensures that our customers can be confident that their information security is managed, monitored and controlled effectively at every stage. The accreditation reflects our commitment to information security and is in line with the 'continuous improvement' culture of our organisation. Compliance with ISO 27001 standards ensures that information security processes are more effective and efficient, meaning that any security related incidents or risks can be responded to much more rapidly and successfully."
Andy Whilliance, Auditor from SGS said, "ICS demonstrated a mature Information Security Management System across its operations. In all areas audited, the confidentiality of client information was a key focus, and this was reflected both in the processes and procedures in place, and in the awareness of all staff interviewed."
ICS Computing also holds a number of other international quality awards including ISO9001 and ISO 14001.
